Creating domains

Domains are an integral part of Menterprise Publishing; they hold subdomains, categories, and pages. Each domain has a dedicated IP, so they can be as separate or as linked as needed.

To host a new domain firstly navigate to the Domains & Subdomains section of your Menterprise Publishing dashboard and click "ADD DOMAIN".

You will be greeted with the Add domain screen:

The root domain. It is important you do not add any subdomains or www when adding the domain.

Valid examples:

example.com

my-domain.com

plumbers-in-australia.com.au

etc.co.nz

Invalid examples:

www.example.com

plumbing.my-domain.com

Choose Domain Type

The size of the hosting package for the domain. The main difference is the amount of subdomains that can be contained within the domain. 100 subdomains for Regular hosting and 1,000 subdomains for Mega hosting.

Once you have filled out the dialog, click "ADD NEW DOMAIN".

After about 30 seconds refresh the dashboard.

The next step is changing the NS (name-servers) for the domain. The NS are available for each added domain under "Sites awaiting validation":

The process differs from registrar to registrar, but essentially the next step is to:

1. Login to where you registered the domain
2. Go to the Nameservers section
3. Replace the existing ones, one by one, with those in your Menterprise Publishing dashboard

The next step is to wait. Name server propagation is outside of Menterprise Publishing's hands and can take up to 72hrs, but is usually within an hour.

After propagation has finished your domain will "go green" and you'll be able to browse to it!

While you're waiting

Feel free to create subdomains and pages while you wait! Everything created will be immediately available when your domain is live.
