How to create subdomains with the XREF

The XREF enables you to create subdomains in bulk with subdomain variables already included. This allows you to create powerful data-based networks, for example a network of subdomains that cover the top 100 cities/states in the USA.

Utilising subdomain variables the pages that end up on the subdomains will always line up, so in the example of city/state, our pages (when using the double brackets) will automatically sync!

How to use the XREF

Within the create subdomains dialog, select domain(s) at the top and then jump to the bottom and open "CREATE VARIABLE XREF".

Once opened you'll notice a table. This is what our data will go in to create the subdomains.

Starting from top-to-bottom, the first inputs are the Variable Names. In the screenshot above we have two, "city" and "state" - like creating variables manually the name is what you'll use within the pages ([[city]] and [[state]]).

Next, we have the "Rows" - this is where we put our data from something like Excel. Each row must be seperated by line.

For our example, we'll be putting in 100 rows (the top 100 US cities by population and their states) and it will look like this:

Each row will correspond to one subdomain. Now, that's actually all we have to do to set up the XREF! Next thing is to (optionally) use them in the subdomain title/niche/subdomain. To do this, we use the variables like usual (with double square brackets) like so:

Notice that the subdomains are relevant to the XREF data! Now we're done - all we have to do is create these subdomains and launch a campaign to them using the subdomain variables we've created in the pages.

Copied!
