Subdomain structures
In Menterprise Publishing there are currently two possible URL structures, "Default" and "Category/Post".
Each URL structure changes how the page paths are formed and their interactions with categories.
Default structure
By default, all subdomains are created with the "default" structure. This structure is as follows:
Inner page (or "post"): https://subdomain.example.com/page/example-page-zhjy3i7a
Category page: https://subdomain.example.com/category/my-category
You'll notice that each URL contains the "type" and then the slug of the item. This structure supports multiple categories per page.
Category/Post structure
The Category/Post structure does what it says on the can; it changes the URL to a /category/post structure:
Inner page (or "post"): https://subdomain.example.com/my-category/example-page-zhjy3i7a
Category page: https://subdomain.example.com/my-category
You'll notice that now the category is an integral part of the URL. This structure limits pages to having a single category, but can improve the SEO of the URL when using relevant categories. For example, we could create a network of subdomains for services (maybe using locations and the XREF) and then add categories to them for each service, like "plumbing", "roofing" and "fencing" - then, using Destination Groups, we could easily launch a campaign to each service resulting in some URL structures like:
https://florida.services-usa.com/plumbing/my-excellent-plumber-ax87uu
https://texas.services-usa.com/roofing/my-amazing-roofer-zuy3jha
https://illinois.services-usa.com/fencing/my-super-fencer-aio3jks
