A Guide to the Campaign Creator

Campaigns are how you create multiple pages at once with things like link injection, formatting, spinning & hosting done for you.

What you need to get started

  1. An idea of how many pages you'd like online
  2. Some content, preferably Spintax-based
  3. Some domains already hosted with Publishing with sites built already

Terminology

In this article we will refer to things like "tiers", "nodes" & "destination groups" – here is a brief explanation of what these mean:

  • "Tier" - A level within the linking hierarchy that holds "nodes". When working in SEO, often we refer to different levels of linking as "tiers"; this has the same meaning. The first Tier is the top of the diagram with links from the second Tier. The last tier will have no backlinks as that is the end of the hierarchy. Campaigns can create up to 5 tiers deep.
  • "Node" - A group within the linking hierarchy that holds pages. Pages are grouped into nodes for organization and assignment and can hold up to 1,000 pages each. If a node resides in the first Tier it can be linked by another node in the second Tier. Within these nodes could be thousands of pages, so Publishing will dynamically work out what links to what on a page-by-page basis after launch. Tiers can hold up to 12 nodes.
  • "Destination Group" - A group of domains, subdomains or categories that the pages will be published to. Read more about them here.

Working with the Library

Additionally, let's cover how the Library panel works. In the Library, we can add our content and destination groups for assignment. By assignment, we are referring to where the content parts and destination groups go in terms of our linking hierarchy.

By default, all Library elements are assigned to everything. Once you have added multiple elements, like 2 or more parts of content, you can then assign them to different nodes and tiers. For example, you can have different content on different tiers by dragging them onto the tiers themselves.

1. Adding Content

We can start by adding our content to the Library panel. We can add one or more content parts that we can assign to our pages.

Adding Content

  1. Click on the + under Content in the Library panel
  2. Add any content in that panel, spintax, HTML & plaintext is supported
  3. Publishing will automatically scan & process titles within the article if there is a Htag in there
  4. Or, under ADVANCED, add in your own Title, Slug & Snippet (meta description)

Add as many more content parts as needed – you can nest all your content in one, or separate them out for organization and assignment.

Drag & drop any piece of content to a node or tier to assign it to that node or tier. You can also click the dropdown (when multiple parts have been added) with the pink circle on a tier or node.

2. Choosing Where to Publish

Next, we want to choose where our pages end up. This guide assumes you have hosted domains, and that you are some subdomains created on them as well.

Selecting & Adding Destination Groups

  1. Click the + under the Destination Groups in the Library panel
  2. Add an existing group or create a custom selection

Just like the Content, add as many more Destination Groups as needed.

As with any Library element, you can drag & drop any group to a node or tier to assign it to that node or tier. You can also click the dropdown (when multiple parts have been added) with the blue circle on a tier or node.

3. Linking Design

Creating our linking design is done from a high-level perspective in Publishing. We create tiers and nodes to create the general structure, depth & size of our page rollout. Linking is automatically built but is controlled by how nodes link to eachother in our design.

Editing our Campaign Hierarchy

Some examples of things you can do in the center panel:

  • Add or remove tiers, nodes and links between them by clicking the various add/remove buttons in the center panel.
  • Change the delays between tiers (how long pages wait to publish after the page they link to) by clicking the menu icons on each tier.
  • Assign any element from the Library panel to the tiers or nodes by dragging & dropping onto them. Nodes within a tier will inherit from the tier any assignments, but this is overridden by assigning directly to a node.
  • Distribute node linking automatically by clicking the "distribute nodes" icon at the bottom of each tier.
  • Also change way a node links to another node by editing the node.
  • Set the total pages of a node, tier or the campaign itself by clicking.

4. Design & Quick Settings

Within the Design panel on the right we have access to multiple shortcuts to quickly change the design of the campaign. Below is a breakdown of each shortcut and it's function.

  • Set Outbound Links: The first tier pages will automatically contain <a> tags referencing these links. The first tier will spread the links across all the first tier pages evenly, so you can manipulate this by adding more or less links
  • Set Total Pages: Randomly generates and assign page numbers to nodes that total the number given, therefore setting the total pages created once the campaign is launched
  • Set Posting Schedule: Quickly set all tier delays to total the range given. Can be set into the future or past. This will influence how many pages per day are created.
  • Campaign Variables: Preset any variables in a campaign before launch
  • Extra Settings: Similar to the settings available after launch, we can assign some text that will be within the meta of all pages, before all pages and after all pages.

5. Launch!

Once configured, the Launch button will be ready to click and your pages will be built!

Additionally, above the Launch button is the Advisor panel – it gives you an idea on what needs to be done in the campaign, along with some warnings for common issues. If there is anything preventing the campaign from launching, it will be listed in the Advisor panel.
